Gone Apple Pickin'

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
No, no, no. Not that wonderful time.
But this one: When the air is crisp, and you can wear jeans and a sweater comfortably (with or without cowboy boots).
You know, football and S'more making weather.
So last weekend, we went apple picking at Stone's Apple Barn.

 042

Let's start by visiting the chicken coop. We learned last year that the children will:
A) Feed the chickens the apples you just spent the day picking, even thought the chickens don't like apples.
B) The children will eat the same apples, after trying to touch the chickens without nary a thought of the filth of fouls.

012

Initially the children are excited about helping pick the apples.

They are helpful.

025

And resourceful.
And then something happens.

029

They become aware of the possibility of...

005

...having FUN!

002

And enjoying the day! (Psalms 118:24)

039

She loves these guys so much.
She calls them her brothers. (Romans 12:10)

We rounded our apple picking adventure out by having lunch at Pizza Ranch. After all, apple picking (running, enjoying the sunshine) is hard work.

Glad we got to enjoy with friends and build good memories that will last a lifetime.
